Description

If you're looking at this kit, it's most likely because you have experienced fuel starve issue at 1/2 tank in your Nissan Z.
It's a known issue and AMS provided a solution and here it is.  No more fuel starve on hard turns or at 1/2 tank of gas.
We have this kit installed on our Z and have not experienced any fuel starve issue since.

Helpful tip for install:  Try to work with a near empty gas tank.  Your body will thank you.  It also helps to have a small pair of hands to help you as you will need to assemble the fuel bucket inside the gas tank.

The factory fuel pump system in the Nissan Z leaves a lot to be desired. The factory system utilizes a small single low pressure fuel pump which simply is not enough to support an upgraded HPFP, or aftermarket port injection systems. Our AMS Snailworks® Engineering Team took this as an opportunity to not only increase the total throughput of the fuel pump system, but to do it in such a way that all of the OEM functionality is not just retained, but improved. Gone are the days of being required to keep your fuel tank filled to a minimum of a half tank, hacking up your factory pump basket, or being forced to use an external fuel surge tank mounted in the trunk. Allowing for massive fuel flow, the single pump system supports 800 HP, while the dual pump system is capable of supporting an astounding 1400 HP and is the perfect match for aftermarket port injection systems. Available as a single pump or dual pump system, the AMS Performance Nissan Z In-Tank Fuel Pump System is the perfect solution to meet your fuel delivery needs.

  • DUAL PUMP SYSTEM SUPPORTS 1400 HP OF FUEL DELIVERY ON GASOLINE AND 1100 HP ON E85
  • SINGLE PUMP SYSTEM SUPPORTS 800 HP OF FUEL DELIVERY ON GASOLINE AND 600 HP ON E85
  • INCLUDES INJECTION MOLDED ENGINEERING THERMOPLASTIC BASKET TO COMBAT FUEL STARVATION
  • NEARLY QUADRUPLES THE PUMP BASKET SIZE OVER OEM (+296%) AND RETAINS “SURGE TANK” PROPERTIES UNLIKE COMPETITORS
  • IMPROVES UPON THE FACTORY SIPHON SYSTEM WITH PTFE HOSE AND IMPROVED PICKUP LOCATIONS FOR EXCELLENT BASKET FILLING
  • CNC MACHINED RED ANODIZED BILLET ALUMINUM FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY TOP HAT
  • UTILIZES PLUG ‘N PLAY ELECTRICAL HARNESSES AND QUICK CONNECT FUEL FITTINGS FOR EASY INSTALL
  • UTILIZES INDUSTRY STANDARD MADE IN USA WALBRO 450 LPH FUEL PUMP(S)
  • ALL MATERIALS AND COMPONENTS ARE FULLY ETHANOL AND METHANOL COMPATIBLE
  • ALLOWS FOR CONVERSION TO RETURN-STYLE FUEL LINE PLUMBING TO SUPPORT PORT INJECTION INSTALLATIONS

NO MORE FUEL STARVATION UNDER A HALF TANK

The AMS Performance Nissan Z In-Tank Fuel System has been developed by our talented AMS Snailworks® Engineering Team as a complete system, instead of just an add-on pump like our competitors. The benefit of developing a system in this manner is that we can reimagine how the system fits and works together to optimize fuel flow, drivability, and ease-of-use. Our team found a number of components within the factory fuel system which our reimagined AMS fuel system reroutes, removes, or replaces to vastly increase system performance, keeping the fuel pump assembly full of fuel at all times.

A key feature of the AMS In-Tank Fuel Pump System is improved siphon system functionality to combat the extremely common issue of fuel starvation when fuel levels drop below half a tank. This is accomplished by completely redesigning the system from the ground up with a proprietary siphon routing solution. Say goodbye to the inconvenience of maintaining a minimum half tank of fuel or resorting to external surge tanks in the trunk. Our team extended the factory pickup on the left side of the tank and then added an all-new secondary pickup for the right side of the tank to increase overall flow. Both of these pickups have been strategically located at the rear of the tank, accounting for fuel to naturally slosh to the rear when launching or accelerating the vehicle. These siphon pickups deliver fuel directly to the pumps, filling our oversized fuel pump basket at all times – even under demanding racing conditions.
