Billet aluminum front radius rods for the Vanderhall Carmel.
Our client initially came to us with ball joints, which we fixed by designing a set of heavy duty rebuildable ball joints.
While removing the lower control arms, we noticed the front radius rod bolts were loose. We looked deeper into the root cause of why this was an issue not only on this car, but others as well.
The soft rubber bushings that hold the radius rods in place by pinching the chassis has a good amount of deflection under load. This continued compression and rebounding of the bushings can put a heavy load on the small bolt, and we saw this when we were working on another Vanderhall where the threads inside the radius rod was completely stripped out.
As you can imagine a 3 three wheeled vehicle with dynamic toe change due to soft rubber bushings would result in a very unyielding driving experience.
Our client experienced this when he had to avoid an obstacle on the road and had to apply sudden braking which resulted in the car swerving on an unexpected direction.
Our billet radius rods were designed to be a direct bolt-in solution for the original arms.
Just like the ball joints we designed, we over engineered these to be the last set you will need.
