2023 Nissan Z (RZ34) Brake Cooling Duct Development - Mock up
5th Jun 2024
The new Nissan Z is the heaviest the Z has ever been weighing in at 3600lbs.
This requires a good brakes, and the Akebono aluminum calipers do the job well, however we did boil the brake fluid couple of times on track. Most newer sports we see today we noticed small air guides directing air to the brakes, but the new Z has really nothing to direct any air to the brakes.
We wanted to design a brake duct kit for our car that's easy to install and doesn't require too much work. Who wants to remove bumpers and fender liners etc... We sure don't want to if we don't have to.
Mocking up general location of where we want to put the Naca ducts.
Making sure there is ample clearance at full lock.
We don't want to hose to rub under cornering.
View from the passenger side. You can get a general idea of where it will sit. We will 3D scan the under tray and make a Naca duct to follow the contours with proper angles integrated for proper air flow.
2" High-Temp brake hose should flow plenty of air to the brakes, and as you can see here there is clearance around the hose.
Stay tuned for more...
